Have your say on proposed changes to parish boundary

The electoral arrangements in Alnwick and Denwick are currently being examined with a view to changing the parish boundary.

Alnwick Town Council, following discussions with Denwick Parish Council, has requested that the boundary be amended to incorporate an additional area into its boundary. This can only be done through a community governance review.

Northumberland County Council has the powers to conduct community governance reviews, which can involve creating new or amalgamating parishes and amending electoral arrangements. The town council has asked the authority to carry out such a review.

The proposed amendment is a boundary change to the south of Alnwick to incorporate an area of land which falls within Denwick Detached.

This area will include the new Duchess’s Community High School, new housing, the Extra-Care flats and sports facilities at Greensfield.

The town council feels that this area will fit more naturally within the Alnwick town area and the proposed boundary will also fully incorporate the Covance site within Alnwick.
