Hauxley Parish Council has a vacancy for a councillor.

Candidates must submit their interest in the vacancy in writing to the clerk by June 28. Candidates will be invited to the July meeting of the council to give a short presentation on why they would like to be a councillor and the existing members will vote on who to co-opt.

At the annual meeting, Coun Wilkinson was elected as chairman and Coun Graham as vice-chairman.

Thanks were given to Ade Barrass and Alan Culling for their time in office.

At the May meeting of the council, Coun Graham gave an update on the ramp. He told councillors of a verbal proposal made by the Philip Brothers. He will request a proposal in writing.

Coun Graham said there was very little movement on the transfer of paths.

Three members expressed an interested in attending a service being planned by Amble Town Council to commemorate the centenary of the start of the First World War next year.

Coun Wilkinson suggested the budget be reviewed at the June meeting.

The next meeting will be on Monday, June 10, at 6.30pm in Hauxley Village Hall.
