A large grain co-operative in Belford has donated £1,000 to HospiceCare North Northumberland.

During the harvest months, the office staff at Coastal Grains bake sweet and savoury treats to sell to visitors.

This year, the team decided to donate the money they made to the charity, which has day therapy centres in Alnwick and Berwick.

Katherine Walsingham, from Coastal Grains, said: “HospiceCare does an amazing job. To learn that this donation will provide 40 hours of specialist Hospice at Home services to people and their families living in our local communities is wonderful news.”

On receiving the cheque, Rebecca Taylor, from the hospice, said: “This is a tremendous effort from people in our local community, supporting our local hospice.

“We are hugely grateful for the very generous donation and for helping to further raise the profile of our clinical services.”
