The scheme for the grade II-listed property, at 17 Church Street, received the green light from county council planning officers under delegated authority.

Planning officer Ragu Sittambalam said the conversion required only slight alterations to provide bed and breakfast rooms plus owners’ accommodation. “The works proposed are minor and are necessary to facilitate the change of use,” he reported.

The change of use will result in a five-bedroom guesthouse with three-bedroom owners’ accommodation set on the first floor to the rear of the building.

There was one initial objection from a neighbour, but this was withdrawn when an amended parking plan was submitted.
