Groups urged to bid for funding

Voluntary and community organisations in the county are being encouraged to apply for funding of between £5,000 and £15,000.

Virgin Money is launching its £150,000 initiative with the Community Foundation Tyne and Wear and Northumberland and is encouraging applications.

The new fund has two key aims. The first is to help young people achieve more by overcoming barriers, such as homelessness, mental ill-health and low educational attainment.

The second is to support adults and young people into work through training, skills development or work-based learning or become more enterprising through schemes that support people to develop their own businesses.

Groups can apply for the first round of funding, which closes on Tuesday, February 17. Visit { for details||Link to for details} for details.
