A double celebration was in store for centenarian Gladys Steele – when she found out that her great-grandson had been born on the same day as her 102nd birthday.
A party was held at Amble’s Dolphin View Care Home for the much-loved resident on Friday, April 29.
Town Mayor Craig Weir and his wife Maggie attended and he presented Gladys with her card, chocolates and flowers. There was also a singer and the room was full of staff, residents and Gladys’s family and friends. After the entertainment, Gladys cut her cake and the buffet was opened, along with some wine.
And to make the day extra special, a phone call came in during the party to say that Gladys was a great-grandmother again after her granddaughter-in-law had given birth to a little boy. It certainly was the icing on the cake!
