Glendale, History Society

On Wednesday, Glendale Local History Society welcomes Andrew and Margaret Watchorn to present Piping Matters, a talk and music about their pipes, the Northumbrian small pipes, and the Swedish pipes and Nyckelharpa.

The couple are famed internationally and their talk and music is not to be missed. They are in constant demand as performers at concerts and festivals, and also as tutors in the UK and abroad.

Over the last six years they have developed a link with musicians in Dalsland, Sweden, leading workshops, learning the repertoire of the region and, in Andrew’s case, taking up the Swedish bagpipes. Margaret has begun the task of mastering the Swedish nyckelharpa or keyed fiddle.

The talk is at the Cheviot Centre, Padgepool Place. Refreshments will be served at 7pm, for 7.30pm. Visitors £2.
