Getting in the saddle for cancer charity

Staff at an Alnwick building society are getting in the saddle for Marie Curie.

The fund-raising event at Yorkshire Building Society, on Bondgate Within, is taking place tomorrow, with colleagues taking it in turns to try to accomplish the distance of the first stage of the Tour de France, 190 kilometres, on a static bike.

“We’re really looking forward to the challenge of cycling the first stage of the Grand Départ and hope that our customers and passing members of the public will help us in our fund-raising for Marie Curie.” said Daniel Tyler, branch manager.

“As Yorkshire Building Society is an official supporter of the Tour de France 2014 Grand Départ and Marie Curie is the official charity partner it made perfect sense to set ourselves a cycling challenge to celebrate the world’s largest annual sporting event visiting our country.”
