Jane Lovett’s newest book, The Get-Ahead Cook, is a collection of 100 achievable recipes for the everyday cook to master and enjoy recreating.

Acclaimed cook Jane, from North Northumberland, has built a reputation for her practical and informative teaching to people who love food and cooking, but sometimes found themselves a little daunted by the process.

Jane instils confidence and provides a wealth of tips, shortcuts and ideas that turn the amateur or beginner into an effortless home cook.

Her passion is to provide real recipes for real situations, from a real kitchen. From her years of experience writing, cooking and demonstrating, here is a book that provides ingenious advice and unexpected tips, as well as easy, contemporary, original and delicious recipes, beautifully presented, that can largely be prepared in advance.

Divided into six chapters – Starters and Small Plates, Brunching and Lunching, Easy Suppers and Comforting Food, Feasts for Friends, Salads and Sides and Sweet Things – the book offers easy recipes for almost every occasion, from simple everyday eating to at-home entertaining. Jane also includes three-course meals with recipes that showcase the seasons.

Jane has more than 30 years’ experience in catering, teaching and demonstrating behind her and her hints and tips have become much coveted by her students and home cooks.

Jane runs a series of popular cookery demonstrations around the UK and at her home in Northumberland.

She is also a member of the Guild of Food Writers. She lives with her husband John and enjoys growing her own produce.
