Ged enjoys a sleepover and films for the BBC

He arrived at SHAK in a shocking condition after being found in a field in rural Northumberland,

Showing signs of fear aggression, he growled angrily whenever anyone came close.

But having been looked after by the charity for around two months now, Staffordshire bull terrier, Ged, is making great progress – and he is set to become a TV celebrity.

BBC Inside Out is documenting the vital work of SHAK and Ged’s story is set to feature as part of this.

SHAK founder Stephen Wylie said: “Last week, I was at Blyth beach to film the final part of a BBC episode of Inside Out, part of which is featuring Ged’s story.

“He had a sleepover at mine the night before, which was an equally big night for him as he had to meet my gang of dogs and also handle being in a house.

“With not knowing any history on him, we don’t know when he was last in somebody’s home or if he has even ever been in one before.

“But he took everything in his stride and he enjoyed meeting and making some new friends.

“He was perfect with my dogs and I think he thoroughly enjoyed being in a house.

“On the day of the filming, he enjoyed being outdoors and took everything in, and nothing really seemed to phase him.

“During the video, I was asked if I thought he’d become a success story and will find a home. I said that Ged actually being able to have a night and day out like this was already a success story, and he’d done himself and us proud.”

Stephen isn’t sure when the episode will be broadcast, but will update in due course.
