Gardening opening is a success
A well-attended garden open day raised just over £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The event took place earlier this month at Hedgeley Hall, near Powburn, which is owned by Katie and John Carr-Ellison.
More than 400 people, plus an array of dogs, enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and helped to raise money for a good cause. A cake stall also raised nearly £200 for Branton Community First School.
The family has held the special event for around 10 years, helping to raise almost £20,000 for Macmillan.
Reflecting on this year’s fund-raiser, Mrs Carr-Ellison said: “We had the most wonderful afternoon of perfect sunshine and people poured in. I would like to thank everyone who supported the event and gave so generously and we look forward to seeing them next year.”
