Further reports of car crime in Alnwick

Police have received reports of a number of incidents of vandalism in two Alnwick car parks.

Two vehicles parked in the Roxburgh Place car park were damaged towards the end of last week. A moped had the ignition damaged between 4.30pm on Thursday and 8am on Friday, while a window was damaged on a Ford Transit van parked between 8pm and 9pm on Thursday.

Elsewhere, three cars were broken into when they were parked in Greenwell Lane car park at the rear of Alnwick Playhouse between 7.30pm and 9.30pm last Thursday. Offenders also attempted to break into the map dispenser at the same location, causing damage to the machine.

Police are appealing for witnesses with anyone who was in either area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious asked to contact police.

In the case of the Greenwell Lane incidents, the police have descriptions of three male youths – one wearing a mid-blue top and aged late teens to early 20s with dark hair, another wearing a black hoody and a third with a grey top.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting reference number 53470S/16, or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Officers are also asking motorists to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity they may see around parked vehicles to police immmediately.
