Further consultation on proposals for the organisation of schools in the Alnwick Partnership is now taking place.
The additional consultation was approved by Northumberland County Council’s Cabinet at its meeting on Thursday, June 18, after recommendations from officers, which includes the following changes to the school structure in the Alnwick Partnership:
The Duchess’s Community High School becoming an 11-18 secondary school from September 1, 2017, on a single site;
Lindisfarne, Duke’s, Seahouses and St Paul’s RC Aided Middle Schools closing on August 31, 2017; these schools would not receive a Year 5 intake in September 2016;
Hipsburn, Shilbottle, Swansfield Park, Swarland and Seahouses First Schools becoming primary schools from September 1, 2016;
St Michael’s CE, Longhoughton CE, Ellingham CE, Felton CE, Whittingham CE and St Paul’s RC First Schools becoming primary schools from September 1, 2016;
Embleton Vincent Edwards CE First School closing with effect from August 31, 2016;
Branton First School closing with effect from August 31, 2017.
