Anyone who knows Smokey, our dog of the week, also knows exactly how stubborn this old man can be.
He has lived at SHAK, this year’s Jam Jar Army beneficiary, for a number of years now and because he struggles with problems in his lower back, all he usually wants to do is play with his boomer ball.
Stephen Wylie said: “However, the sunshine on Friday gave him a second wind, and when we set off for a walk he decided he was going all the way to the bin.
“Now if that doesn’t surprise the rest of the SHAK team enough, the fact that at some points he even decided to trot, may just do the trick.
“It was great to spend such quality time with him, give him a brush in the sunshine and let him relive his youth.
“And in case you’re wondering...yes, he made it all the way to the bin and back.
“And, news on Teddy, who featured in the Gazette a month or two ago.
“I’m pleased to say that Teddy now has a new Forever Foster home.
“This young boy has come on so much since I picked him up as a stray, and we are all delighted he has a home to call his own now.
“Thanks to SHAK’s own Harvey and Grace for showing him the ropes, and best of luck, big guy!”
SHAK are fund-raising at Alnwick Market on the last Saturday of every month, where you can hand in or collect jam jars, as well as at the usual places, including the Gazette office.
