Their efforts focused on using Word and Excel, setting up email accounts, and staying safe online.

Tenants were also given the opportunity to raise their own questions and receive advice about the problems they frequently face when working with technology.

Alan Batha, Four Housing tenant, said: “The workshops couldn’t have come at a better time for me as I was struggling with a technical issue.

“I was able to receive invaluable one to one tuition, and feel much happier now that my IT problem has been solved.”

Gillian Buchan, customer engagement officer at Four Housing, said: “It was fantastic to see so many tenants engaging with the workshop.

“The Bernicia Group is committed to providing not only excellent housing, but also offering added value services which promote education and training to support independence.”

Gemma Douglas, administration officer at Glendale Gateway Trust added: “The IT surgery has proved a real hit within our community.

“There is a high demand for help with digital skills, e-safety, basic iPad use and jargon busting.

“We are looking into the possibility of running some workshops in the coming months which will address this need.”

All attendees also received a guide to take home which captured the information covered in the two sessions.
