A free debt counselling service is set to continue helping adults and families in Northumberland, following the appointment of two new staff members.

The Alnwick Christians Against Poverty Debt Centre, based at Alnwick Baptist Church, has appointed Neill Parker as centre manager, and Sue Smith, a debt coach.

From this week, the centre will reopen following a break after the previous centre manager, Chris Friend, was offered a place to train for the Christian ministry.

Neill said: “Sue and I are really looking forward to getting involved in the local community and helping people become debt free.

CAP has an amazing track record in doing just this and we hope to emulate this success locally.

“We visit every client in their home because we believe in giving people privacy and respect.”
