Towards the end of last month, two women were arrested at an address in York Crescent, while two men were arrested at the town’s Sainsbury’s store.

All four have been released under investigation.

The arrests happened less than a fortnight after a police raid at a property in Ravensmede, when a quantity of cannabis was found and a male was interviewed under caution and released, pending further inquiries into drugs supply from the address.

○ Two vandals were chased and caught by a member of staff from an Alnwick restaurant after they smashed a window at the eatery.

The incident happened at Yans Cantonese restaurant and takeaway, on Bondgate Within, last week.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: “On May 3, shortly before 10pm, police received a report of criminal damage at Yan’s. Police attended and it was reported that two males had caused criminal damage to a window.

“The two males had run from the scene, but were soon detained by a staff member from the restaurant.

“Police officers are coordinating a community resolution with the owner so the damage to the window is paid for.”

One diner, who did not want to be named, said that he heard a bang and said the window was shattered at the bottom.
