FOUNTAIN: Why not move the memorial?

I just can't believe how building a non-working fountain in the Market Place in Wooler is the right thing, (Northumberland Gazette, January 14).

Why is the war memorial not being considered for there? At the moment the war memorial is at the top of two huge flights of stone steps, making it completely inaccessible to many elderly and any disabled people.

By rebuilding it in the Market Place, the people, maybe the relatives of the named, can meet, and most important of all, can lay a wreath on Remembrance Day. This is something that at the moment is not possible. It’s ridiculous.

Also, let’s not forget, if it wasn’t for the bravery and dignity of the named, I’d most likely be writing this in German.
