A footpath will close next week to allow for substantial engineering works, as part of a heritage railway development.
The job is associated with the creation of the link between the Aln Valley Railway’s Lionheart site, in Alnwick, and the former railway trackbed leading to Greenrigg and Alnmouth.
The permissive footpath between the point where Green Lane meets the former railway cutting and westwards along this cutting to the A1 boundary fence will be closed from Monday, January 5.
The work could take several months.
The section of the permissive route along the former trackbed between Green Lane and Greenrigg Bridge will remain open, though people are advised to take care when near to the above works.
The section of Green Lane between the trackbed and Cawledge Lane will not be affected and can be used as an alternative route while the work is in progress.
