FLOWERS and tributes have been left at the site where an Alnwick man lost his life at the weekend.
Messages of condolence have been paid to 57-year-old Jeff Hopper, who was killed in a car blaze.
One reads: ‘Uncle Jeff, love and miss you forever....never forget you’.
Another says: ‘Rest in peace, we love you and will miss you always’.
The fatal incident happened on Sunday evening.
A passing motorist spotted a car on fire on the B6341 road, near to Alnwick, and reported the incident at around 7.35pm.
The body of Mr Hopper, from Howling Lane, was later found outside the car.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “Police and ambulance staff attended the scene. Fire services extinguished the fire and the man’s body was found outside and next to the vehicle.
“A section of the B6341 between Alnwick and Rothbury was closed for around five-and-a-half hours to allow for investigation to take place.”
A spokeswoman for Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said that two fire engines from Alnwick attended the blaze which was described as ‘serious’ but was extinguished ‘immediately’.
A report has been prepared for the coroner.
