Fishing for employment

A JOBS fair, to help fill 40 manufacturing posts, takes place in Alnwick today.

Last week, the Gazette revealed that Alnwick-based fishing tackle firm LYNX Fishing is creating 40 jobs thanks to the development of their Precision Compression Technology.

It is an innovative system that connects fishing tackle to lines, retaining 100 per cent of the line strength.

The new staff will be employed at their site at Willowburn Industrial Estate, to which the company is moving this weekend.

The majority of the roles will be involved in the assembly of the rigs.

They will be looking for a couple of supervisor roles but the majority of jobs are in manufacturing.

At the event, which opens to the public at 1pm in the Northumberland Hall, those who attend can learn more about the company and the technology.

Applicants will then take aptitude tests involving activities such as threading items onto fishing lines and some type of rig assembly.

Any experience is helpful but full training will be provided and anyone is welcome. Following the afternoon’s activities, those successful will be invited back for formal interviews.

The jobs fair, in the Northumberland Hall, Alnwick, begins with an opening ceremony at 1pm and will run until about 5pm. Applicants are asked to take along a CV if possible.
