First loss for Wooler in bid for league title

Wooler, who are on the verge of clinching the Northumberland Cricket League Division 3 title, suffered their first defeat of the season when they were beaten by Gateshead EM's on Saturday. And remarkably, they were beaten by a side who only fielded nine players!

But the Glendale side are still in the driving seat, being 25 points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand on second placed Alnmouth and Lesbury, who only have one match to play.

Wooler have two games remaining and could close out the championship this Saturday when they travel to take on Rock.

On a day when the majority of fixtures were hit by the weather, Tillside 1sts stretched their lead at the top of the Premier Division to 25 points with a six wicket win over Corbridge.
