The culinary extravaganza is set to take place in the Town Square, which connects Queen Street and the Harbour Village.

A specific date for the food festival has not yet been decided, but it will be held at some point during the Amble Puffin Festival, which this year runs from Saturday, May 28, to Sunday, June 5.

A spokeswoman from the puffin festival committee said: “Due to the large proportion of food stalls and street-food vendors who have inquired about our craft fair during Amble Puffin Festival, we have decided to hold Amble Food Festival.

“This will be a first in food festivals for Amble, which is becoming well known as a destination in the North East for food.

“This follows an influx of high-quality eating establishments around the town. A food festival would very much compliment this and the event has the support of local food establishments.”

As part of the food festival, cookery demonstrations will be held in the Seafood Centre, which is based at the Harbour Village, while a live music event will be staged a short walk away.

To celebrate the first food festival, the puffin festival committee says that stall fees will be at ‘the low rate’ of £35 for up to 10ft of space for the inaugural event.

Meetings took place with businesses earlier this week and anyone wanting to register an interest in the food festival should email [email protected] and you will be sent the booking paperwork.
