First call-out false alarm for lifeboat

A NORTH Northumberland lifeboat was called out for the first time in 2012 last week.

Just before 1pm on Friday, March 16, Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat to investigate a report from a member of the public that a kite-surfer appeared to be in difficulty a mile-and-a-half east of Seahouses.

On arrival, he was found not to be in any difficulty, and was in company with a small speedboat.

Once it was confirmed that all was well, the lifeboat returned to station.

The incident was recorded as a false alarm, made with good intent.
