Emergency services were called to a kitchen fire at a ground-floor flat in Northumberland last night.

Three fire engines - two from Alnwick and one from Amble - attended the scene at The Cordwainers, Alnwick, after being alerted at 9.19pm.

Crews had to force entry to the property. Nobody was injured and a police spokesman said the cause of the fire is not thought to be suspicious.

The last fire engine left the scene at just after 10pm. Police and ambulance crew also attended the incident.
