Film festival returns to village for second year

After its inaugural success last year, a festival is back at a North Northumberland village.

The second Howick International Film Festival will be held in the village hall from Friday, October 26 to Sunday, October 28.

Four critically-acclaimed world cinema films – this year from France, Italy, Belgium and Brazil – will be shown, with one each on Friday at 6.30pm, Saturday at 10.30am and 2pm, and Sunday at 6pm.

The purpose of the festival is to celebrate the ongoing success of Howick Community Film Club, which has shown more than 80 films since its inauguration in January 2014.

It also aims to promote the club’s film nights and raise funds to cover its running costs and budget for the maintenance and renewal of film equipment.

The festival also gives a rare opportunity to see great films from around the world.

The club operates out of the old village hall. There is an audio visual system with a large screen and a full surround sound system.

Events are held every three to four weeks and alternate between Friday and Sunday evenings.
