Reports were given, the current office holders and committee were all unanimously re-elected unopposed, and it was agreed that neither the membership fees nor the visitors’ fees would be increased for the next season beginning in September 2018.

‘Old English’ then gave their presentation, The King’s Shilling. This was an interesting, sometimes sad, sometimes funny, story of recruitment into the British Army in the 18th and 19th centuries. It was told through the songs and music of the period interspersed with the history of recruitment illustrated by a PowerPoint presentation of contemporary pictures and newspaper cuttings. It proved to be both informative and entertaining.
