Felton and Swarland Local History Society

PIPES AND PIES: Kim Bibby-Wilson gave an entertaining talk on the history of the Northumbrian Pipes.

With her brother John Bibby on pipes and guitar they played a selection of Northumbrian tunes to entertain members and guests as part of the 40th birthday celebrations of Felton Local History Group.

The entertainment followed the AGM at Felton village hall.

In a party atmosphere chairman Eileen Cameron thanked the many guests, visitors and members for their attendance

The response came from Vera Vaggs, founder member, who reviewed the progress of the society since 1972 and presented a scrapbook covering events in Felton since well before the society was formed.

A birthday cake was ceremoniously cut by the two of them.

Excellent catering was provided by the Running Fox café in Felton and a good selection of free drinks were on hand.

The next meeting is on Monday, April 16, when Professor John Cannon will talk about landscape and Capability Brown.
