The farmers’ market in Alnwick will be celebrating its 15th birthday tomorrow as it holds a special event.
The first farmers’ market was held in 1999 and 15 years of fine food and drink and locally-produced crafts will be marked with a complimentary mulled wine and cheese and live music from Abigail Orde.
“We have a great market in store on Friday, with 28 stalls already registered,” said Dawn Watts, markets manager.
“Everyone is more conscious of the ‘shop local’ message.
“A farmers’ market is the best way of putting quality local produce on your table and keeping our rural businesses sustainable. Don’t miss out on the special day.”
Markets chairman Philip Angier said: “We want to say thank you to the traders and the shoppers who have supported us all these years.
“We hope that they will share a toast and a taste of some real Northumbrian cheese at our stall on Friday, while they browse for those Christmas essentials.”
