Family-run car dealership wins prestigious accolade

A long-running family business, which has car dealerships in Alnwick and Morpeth, has won a prestigious industry award.

Blackshaws Mitsubishi, located on Coopies Lane, Morpeth, has been named as New Dealer of the Year, by Mitsubishi Motors in the UK.

The award was presented to managing director Will Blackshaw, from Swarland, at the annual Mitsubishi Motors in the UK dealer conference earlier this month.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide and took place at Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales.

Blackshaws expanded from its Alnwick site by opening the Mitsubishi dealership in Morpeth in March 2016.

The Morpeth premises has gone from strength to strength and took the coveted accolade after impressing with its performance across all aspects of business.

In particular, the award reflected its dedication to sales of new and used vehicles, its strong aftersales results and excellent customer service.

Will said: “We’re delighted and very humbled to receive the award.

“Blackshaws Mitsubishi is a very customer-focused, family-run operation and it’s great to have the official recognition for the team’s efforts.

“I’d like to thank everyone at our dealership for their individual contribution to this award and it’s a great base for us to take our operation to an even higher level.

“It was humbling to win the award at the event with my wife in attendance, because she has been very supportive.

Will is the fourth generation of Blackshaws to be involved with the franchised car-dealer, which started in Alnwick in 1919.

As well as the Morpeth site, the company has a Nissan and Suzuki dealership in Alnwick.
