The embroideries, which can be seen in the main entrance area and restaurant, were created by a group of women following a series of community workshops organised by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Nearly 30 people contributed to the artworks, including friends of the group and children.

The embroideries are part of the Trust’s long-standing healing arts programme which uses art as a therapeutic medium to improve the hospital environment for patients, visitors and staff. Brenda Longstaff, from the Trust, said: “We are delighted with the embroideries and thank everyone involved.

“They are stunning artworks of the highest quality and the level of detail is astonishing. We have received lots of positive feedback.”
