Extension plans look set to get go-ahead

A proposal for a home extension in a village on the north Northumberland coast, which has sparked a number of objections, is due to be decided tonight.

The bid for a rear extension and new detached garage at Emblestone, South Acres, in Craster, is recommended for approval at the meeting of the county council’s north area planning committee.

The application is going before councillors as it has sparked objections from Craster Parish Council, the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Partnership and three residents.

Concerns raised include impact on the landscape, light pollution, materials to be used and impact on biodiversity.

However, the planning officer concludes that ‘the nature and relatively small scale’ of the proposals mean ‘it would not result in any harm despite its location within the AONB’.
