EUROPE: Big changes are needed to stay

Like many people, no doubt, I voted to be in a '˜common market' last time we were allowed a choice.

I would only vote to stay in this time if the following were to happen:–

Firstly, that the European Parliament, Court of Justice and Court of Human Rights were to immediately close down, with all law making, etc, reverting to national parliaments, where it should always have been.

There should be free trade in a real common market, with no payments to Europe from any member country for any reason, the money saved (£55million a day in the UK’s case) being put to far more worthy national causes, such as security, schools, hospitals, pensions, paying off the national debt, and so on.

All laws made by the EU for member states to be either declared null and void, or for a team of ‘ordinary’ citizens, with legal advisors, to plough through those laws and decide which makes sense to their own member country, and ditching the rest. (I volunteer, by the way).

Apart from trade, the only necessary close co-operation should be between the various security organisations with regard to fighting terrorism.

I am sure that there are many other suggestions in a similar vein, but these will do for a start.

I will be voting for the UK to leave the EU on June 23.

However, I do think that those people from other countries who are in the UK legally, working and paying taxes as they should, should be permitted to stay for as long as they want.

Not only that, but the Home Office should stop deporting or threatening to deport the ‘easy ones’, such as the American-born grandfather who has lived here most of his life, and concentrate on finding and deporting those real illegals.
