EU: Aim is to create a single state

One president, one currency, one financial budget, one finance minister, one foreign policy and a single military organisation and capability, as well as the ending of national vetoes.

That is not to mention a single European prosecutor, which will entail a single legal system because how else could a single prosecutor operate across borders where nations have different systems, where we and only two other countries have the presumption of innocence, where our citizens are protected by habeas corpus and the majority elsewhere are not?

When are talks to bring about a treaty for this new utopia to begin? 2019. How many times have I mentioned that date in columns, letters, articles and election and referendum speeches?

All these things were there to see for anyone who studied the EU in all its incarnations. It was clear to me when I joined the Anti Common Market League in 1967.

The aims are to ensure the growth of a protectionist Europe, with power centralised in the hands of the ‘wise and honest technocrats’.

Those who wish us to remain in the EU must now drop all arguing about trade and say why we should give up or sovereignty, our existence as an independent country and become a mere province of a bureaucratic and undemocratic behemoth governed by an oligarchy.

But of course they won’t. The federalist, integrationist juggernaut will roll on.

Thank goodness we won’t be part of it.
