Plans lodged for three new homes on former allotments site in Shilbottle

Plans to build three new homes on a greenfield site in Shilbottle have been submitted.

An outline planning application to develop a site off Fairfield Road, Shilbottle Grange, has been lodged with Northumberland County Council.

Applicant Judith Cowie wants to build detached properties between the houses of Hawthorn Terrace and Garden Terrace, sandwiched between two lanes.

“This strip of land was previously used as allotments,” explains an accompanying report by architect Ninette Edwards.

“A new one-and-a-half storey house has been built at the southern end of the area, some of the area is laid to grass, and some still used as allotments.”

“This part of the site has been unused for many years and is overgrown and redundant.”

She adds: “The slope of the site and boundaries means that the new houses would not be overlooking the houses on Garden Terrace below.

The detailed design of the new houses would be a reserved matter.
