A change of use application for the Grade II listed Hide Hill property has been submitted by Kashmir Nijar, who owns the retail unit and first floor accommodation.

‘The proposal is to alter and change the use of the existing building from existing A1 classification to A5 hot food take away,’ states a report by Edwin Thompson surveyors.

A new customer entrance is proposed on the corner of Hide Hill, Marygate and Church Street, with the existing door retained for staff access and deliveries.

‘Historically an access was located in the corner of the building at ground floor level,’ states the report. ‘The reinstatement of this door would allow the building to be configured to be more in keeping with how it was originally constructed and would present itself to the main shopping street in the town more suitably.
