Community groups join forces to brighten up Wooler this spring

Wooler is set to get a floral makeover this spring as the community emerges from lockdown.

Some 150 bedding plants have purchased by Wooler Parish Council, the Glendale Gateway Trust and Wooler Floral Display.

They responded to a call from the High Street retailers to ‘beautify’ the High Street prior to the shops re-opening from April 12.

Mark Mather, parish council chairman, said: “This is another example of how community groups can work well together to the benefit of the whole area.”

Catherine Dunn of the floral display team will be busy planting them into existing High Street planters.

Last summer, work to improve the town centre included the installation of a flower fountain in the Market Place, while the parish council has carried out improvements on the riverside including the planting of thousands of spring bulbs.
