Beautifully designed Elizabethan costumes, a wonderful new musical score and enchanting woodland puppet creatures will entertain the audience in the open air event.

Richard Main, Artistic Director for Chapterhouse Theatre Company, said: “It is surprising how little our collective sense of humour has changed over so long a time, but A Midsummer Night’s Dream encapsulates the best in writing, verse and sheer exuberance of theatre and those things seem to last forever.

“Its comedy situations and romance are the foundation stone for every comedy and comedic moment that we see in our own time. Therefore, it resonates just as deeply with a modern audience as it would have with that of its contemporaries.”

This year also marks 400 years since the bard’s death.

Richard added: “The 400th anniversary celebrations have proved not only the durability but the growth in influence of Shakespeare’s writing. At Chapterhouse we feel quite fortunate to be able to produce Shakespeare performances for our wonderful audiences around the country.”

Guests are invited to picnic under the stars while watching the performance.
