And Glendale Engineering, which has grown from humble beginnings in Milfield, has recently launched its new website.

Many north Northumberland residents will know the company as manufacturers of agricultural sheds and cattle, sheep and pig equipment, but most would be surprised to hear that they have also provided the design, manufacture and build of the gigantic Asda superstore in Ashington and the helipad at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

From humble beginnings to a 30,000 sq ft building in Wooler and an additional site in Hexham, the firm has gone from strength-to -trength, recently winning an exclusive contract for student accommodation in Jesmond.

Glendale Engineering is a major employer in the area, currently employing 55 members of full-time staff and five young people on the National Apprenticeships scheme.

Company founder Gordon Wilson said: “When we first started the company in 1984, it was just me and Graeme and two welders; we could never have dreamed that 32 years later we would be able to employ 55 people and give the opportunity to these apprentices.”

Keen to showcase and grow the business, Glendale Engineering recently commissioned a new website by Rothbury-based design and marketing agency Lazy Grace.

Paul McKenna, the firm’s financial director, said: “We are aware that people in the local vicinity know who we are, but we didn’t feel that the multitude of projects that we work on was being showcased well enough.”

The new website is at www.glendaleengineering.co.ukIan McAllister, of Lazy Grace said “When Gordon and Paul first approached us, it was easy to see the potential results that we could help them to achieve by providing a clear and concise web presence. Working with them has been a pleasure and it’s been a fascinating process to see the scale of projects that they have worked on.”

Now with a new website, Gordon, Graeme and Paul are planning for the future. “We don’t want to limit ourselves to a North East market – with our fresh new web presence, we are looking to expand nationally and to continue to recruit enthusiastic and committed people along the way.”
