BRIDGE works on the Shilbottle underpass are expected to be completed in November, the Highways Agency has said.
Work started on November 1 last year to re-strengthen the bridge which forms part of the A1.
Delays were caused by bad weather last winter and earlier this year unforeseen structural problems had to be rectified which added to the workload.
Contraflows are still in operation both north and southbound and the A1 north can still only be accessed from the Denwick exit in Alnwick.
Work has focused on concrete repairs, replacing bridge joints, realigning safety fencing, replacing the bridge parapet and carrying out waterproofing works.
