HM Coastguard officers were carrying out a training course in Amble when they were alerted to a woman who was hurt nearby.

"The lady was made comfortable and her arm was supported while waiting for an ambulance.

“Once stabilised and made comfortable, the team assisted the lady to her car to keep her warm and dry.

"The family decided that they could transport her to hospital so the ambulance was stood down.

"All involved wish her a speedy recovery.

"Our teams are available 24/7 365 days a year to respond to incidents all around the U.K. coastline, even when on training exercises.”
