Teams from the emergency services, including the RNLI and Coastguard, have recovered a body from the coast of Northumberland.
Northumbria Police received a call at 10.33 this morning after a man’s body was found on the beach at Spittal, near Berwick.
Police and paramedics attended and both Berwick lifeboats and Berwick Coastguard were called to help with the operation.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the body was taken to North Tyneside General Hospital, where inquiries are ongoing to identify the deceased.
A statement on the Berwick Lifeboats Facebook page says: “Berwick Inshore Lifeboat and All-Weather Lifeboat launched this morning at 10.40am to assist Northumbria Police, Ambulance and Berwick-upon-Tweed Coastguard to assist in the recovery of a body from Spittal Point. Our thoughts are with the families at this sad time.”
