The meeting opened with Jerusalem before President Joan Little introduced Graeme Ambrose, from Horncliffe, for a talk and demonstration on woodturning.

Becoming a joiner at an early age he moved to Northumberland eight years ago and since then has built up a business producing many diverse pieces or woodwork and giving many demonstrations including the WI circuit on his programme.

Known as the ‘Acorn Man’ for his distinctive trade symbol, Graeme demonstrated the production of various items including the acorn.
