Elves causing lots of mischief in homes before Christmas arrives

Squirting ketchup on the wall, wrapping an entire bathroom in paper and scribbling over a picture canvas – naughty elves have been causing mischief in people’s homes.

The creatures have been caught playing all sorts of tricks in the build up to Christmas, after being sent by Santa to watch over the house and ensure children stay on the right side of the all-important naughty or nice list.

Each night, the little helpers move to a different position, which often sees them causing some sort of disruption.

It is all part of the Elf on the Shelf craze, which is huge in America and has spread across the pond to England.

And Gazette readers have been joining in with the festive tradition, by sending us their hilarious images.

Each evening in the build-up to Christmas, we will be posting a selection of readers’ elf pictures on our Facebook page.

The best images will also feature in the Christmas edition of the Northumberland Gazette.

To whet readers’ appetites, here is a selection of pictures that have been left on our Facebook page so far.

To join in with the festive fun, post your elf pictures or videos onto our Facebook page or email your photos or videos to james.willoughby@jpress.co.uk
