Gazette readers have been caught up in the Elf on the Shelf craze, sending us pictures of their little creatures causing disruption through the night, and we have been posting them on our Facebook page and publishing them in the paper.

The festive tradition started in America and has spread across the pond to England.

In the build-up to Christmas, the elves are sent by Santa to keep an eye on children and each evening they move to a different position, which often sees them causing some sort of disruption.

And to get into the spirit, and because our readers’ pictures have been so good, the Gazette has teamed up with Barter Books to reward the person who takes the best elf picture with a £20 gift voucher for the shop, in a competition we are calling Elfie’s Selfie.

Send your elf pictures to [email protected] or post them on our Facebook page before Christmas Eve. The winner will be decided by Barter Books and announced in the Thursday, December 29, edition of the paper. To give you some food for thought, we have picked a selection of elf pictures that readers have posted so far.
