Ella second female in Jedburgh half marathon

Ella Brown put in arguably the performance of the weekend for Alnwick Harriers at the Jedburgh Half Marathon on Sunday.

Ella has been in fine form of late and ran well once again to finish 11th overall and second female. Her time was a splendid 1.23.14.

Meanwhile, in the 10k race both Dominic Harris and Dean Stackhouse ran well. Dominic was 22nd overall in 39.53, and Dean was home in 41.53 and 30th place.

In the reborn, though run on a markedly different course, Morpeth to Newcastle Half Marathon Shaun Land ran a blinder. On his debut at the distance, recent Harrier League Medium Pack promotee Shaun was 31st overall in 1.29.16.

Also taking part was Mike Henry. It was great to see Mike racing again and good to see him finish in 1.53.08 to end 257th.

In the Morpeth to Newcastle Marathon four Harriers competed, with Dave Bartrum first home for the club.

Finally for the day, Neil Hamilton took part in the Newcastle Town Moor Half Marathon, a multi-lap event. Neil ran very well to finish 32nd in 1.39.24.

The day before there was yet another victory for Steve Carragher at the Druridge Bay Parkrun.

On a day when over 200 runners took part, including 19 Harriers, Steve was first home for the eighth time in the event’s history when finishing in 18.02. Phil Hall was fifth in 18.59, whilst Peter Grey won the male 55 category in 19.33.

Rachelle Falloon was third female finisher, whilst slightly further back there was a great battle between Annabel Lillico and Sarah Gray. Both Neil Hamilton and Christine McAllister ran course bests.

In other 5k events Zoe Robson got a PB at the Nonsuch Parkrun in Surrey, where she finished 112nd in 23.36.

At Workington Richard Eastoe was 47th in 25.11, and wife Gay was 55th in 26.06. Melanie Buchanan took part in the Sewerby Parkrun, near Bridlington,where she clocked 32.08, and Jayne McKenna was at Kettering where she finished in 32.12.
