Emergency crews were called out to help an elderly man who had collapsed on Bamburgh beach.
At 5.17pm yesterday, UK Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses RNLI's inshore lifeboat.
Local Coastguard officers were already on scene with an ambulance crew.
The casualty was some considerable distance over sand dunes from the road and the ambulance. It was requested that the man be evacuated by sea, as the most practical option.
The inshore lifeboat was quickly launched and made best speed to the casualty’s location.
The man was placed aboard the lifeboat and evacuated to Seahouses Harbour and was then handed into the care of the ambulance crew, who had come from Bamburgh.
The casualty had apparently suffered from heat exhaustion. After a full check by the paramedic, he was discharged into the care of friends.
