The construction of the new Duchess’s Community High School in Alnwick reached another milestone on Friday as the steelwork started to be constructed.
Plenty of work has already taken place on the new site at Greensfield to prepare the ground and install the foundations, but now the building itself will start to go up, providing an obvious physical reminder that the long-awaited new school is on its way.
The works are currently on track with the proposed opening date to pupils in September next year.
Headteacher Maurice Hall said: “After so many years of waiting, it’s just so pleasing for the community to see it.”
