Pupils at Warkworth CofE First School were kept busy as they celebrated Science and Engineering Week.
As well as viewing the solar eclipse on Friday through protective glasses, they also enjoyed a wide range of practical scientific and engineering activities.
Mr Burns, a local volunteer engineer, Mrs Burns and Mrs Davis, volunteer science teachers, planned activities with staff to take place during the whole week.
Year 4 pupils made a steady-hand game that involved circuits and soldering and Year 3s completed an investigation and built deep-sea divers by recycling plastic bottles.
Year 2 made compasses and, together with Year 1, made wooden trains. Children in Reception made key rings and tried their hands at chromatology.
