Saturday’s away fixture at Billingham was called off as their pitch was under water following heavy overnight rain on Friday. This game has now been rearranged for Saturday, May 5.

Tuesday’s game away to Tow Law suffered a similar fate, the call being made as early as Monday. The rearranged date for this fixture has yet to be confirmed.

Alnwick’s last match was a 2-1 away defeat to Darlington RA last Wednesday when Josh Hay scored for the St James’ Park outfit.

On saturday (April 7), Alnwick are due to travel to meet Willington, and next Tuesday (April 10) they are set to face Ryton & Crawcrook at home.

Meanwhile, the Northern League have confirmed that following all the recent bad weather, they have officially applied to the FA to extend the season by a week.

League secretary Kevin Hewitt said: “There is a backlog of games and these can cause damage to pitches.

“There is also the well-being of the players to think about with the impact of playing so many games in a short spell.”
